profile

I was born in the UK, but grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, USA. I spent my formative years in Bellingham, Washington and in 1982 I returned to England and have been living in the historic City of York since then.

From 1985 to 1988 I studied woven textile design and construction at Harrogate College of Art and Technology where I concentrated on learning the techniques of rug weaving.  In 1989 I became a self-employed rug weaver and set up a weaving studio in my small terraced house.

Weaving is my lifestyle occupation and gives me a great sense of purpose and satisfaction. I enjoy being part of the weaving community and continuing an important craft tradition.

As a professional textile artist I specialise in making "one off"
and limited collection hand-woven rugs and wall hangings
for private, commercial and sacred interiors.  My work is in public
and private collections in the UK and USA.  Major commissions
include weaving for Westminster Abbey, York Minster and
Blackburn Cathedral.
I exhibit my work at quality craft shops and art galleries
throughout the UK and in the USA.  I accept commissions from
individuals, architects, interior designers, churches and
corporate clients and am able to design and weave a distinctive
rug or wall hanging to coordinate with any interior setting to
complement and enhance any room.

workshops including basic weaving, papermaking,
batik, felt making fabric printing and dyeing.
I regularly work as a textile artist in Primary schools
and facilitate workshops in art galleries, museums
and community centres.  If you would like to schedule
